🏛⚡️LEGEND:

There is a tragic version of the greek legend of Medusa. She was once a beautiful maiden, but was raped by the Olympian god Poseidon in Athenas temple. Athena could not stand this and transformed Medusas hair to serpents so that the mere sight of it would turn onlookers to stone. In this form she is known as one of three monstrous Gorgons, of which she was the only mortal. And so Medusa was eventually beheaded by the hero Perseus. He gave her magical head to Athena to put on her shield after himself having used it as weapon on the battlefield.
