šŸ›āš”ļøLEGEND:
In Greek mythology, Ixion, a wicked king, was once tricked by Zeus into revealing his lust to Hera, the queen of the gods. Zeus shaped a cloud into the likeness of Hera which Ixion seduced. The relationship resulted in the creation of the centaurs, creatures with the upper body of a human and the lower body and legs of a horse.🐓
These beings were of a lustful and violent nature. It was believed they lived in the forests of Thessaly, in which today there is a tradition of hunting bulls on horseback. The word centaur may actually have originally meant ā€˜bull-killer’. šŸŽThis means the centaur may have had some basis in reality. It could have been that the horsemen of Thesally were so skilled that they seemed at one with their horse and so the myth of a single creature was born.🌟

šŸŽØART CHALLENGE:
Last year i was on a vacation in Greece with my family. šŸŒžI bought a book about greek myths but never got around to read all of it. Now the nostalgia of Greece is kicking in and I’m gonna go all in to learn more about the myths.
I was originally looking for a fun art challenge to join, but I can’t find one for July.
So I will call this #mytholojuly
I’ll be posting when I can and take my time to challenge myself and have fun.
Feel free to join and create something mythological yourself. It doesn’t have to be from greek mythology. Tag me and I’ll share your work in my ig story.
Have a good one folks!
