Kappa

Day 7- Yokai🥒👹 In Japan there is a vampiric yokai (“Japanese monster”) that lives in ponds called a Kappa (”river child”). It is said to be a small and green creature with a turtle shell on the back. But it’s most interesting physical feature is a dent on top of its head deep enough to hold water. The water that sits in its head is representative of its power. If a Kappa attacks you, bow to it. The creature will return the bow out of courtesy and in doing so spill out the water, rendering it powerless. The Kappa hunts from its home in the water. It despises horses and cows and will attack these for no reason at all, drowning them and biting them in their anus. But a Kappas favorite snack is cucumbers. By writing your family name on a cucumber and giving it to a Kappa you can be temporarily protected from its attacks.

I love the legend of Kappa and I encourage you to look up more fun facts on it! I hope you like my take on this yokai!
