The Tomte - A Guardian Spirit
On each Scandinavian farm there lives a Tomte. In Sweden, the Tomte or Nisse is a guardian spirit of the farms, helping out the farmers with their labors and taking care of the farm animals. All that they ask for in return is to eat a bowl of porridge each christmas.
The tomte usually look like tiny old men with red or grey hats but they possess incredible strenght and can lift a cow if needed. Some have magical abilities and turn invisible at will, which is why they are rarely seen.
This protective spirit brings peace to any home that will welcome it.
