Gruß Vom Krampus

You might know of Saint Nicholas who gave rise to the legend of Santa Claus. But have you heard about his feared counterpart, the half-goat, half-demon known as Krampus?

According to folklore this type of demon is bound by the devil to punish bad children. The fifth night of december Krampus shows up in town stealing children away. He and puts them in a basket, only for them to be taken to hell or be eaten alive.

In modern times Krampus is celebrated in germanic countries like Germany, Austria and Hungary. Hundreds of people take over the streets dressed up as horned devils, in a parade of sorts.

The title "Gruß Vom Krampus" means "Greetings from Krampus". It refers to an older tradition of jokingly sending Krampus-cards during Christmas times. These usually had an illustration of Krampus on them violently punishing children or carrying them in his basket.
